Torque limiter

Torque limiters are designated as safety clutches or overload clutches. They represent mechanical devices, which separate the output from the drive when a previously defined limit torque is reached. This prevents drive machines from damage by overloading or blockages.

RUFLEX torque limiter

The RUFLEX® torque limiter reliably provides damage from overloading. The modular system provides solutions for every drive and ensures overload protection for torques up to 6,800 Nm. The RUFLEX® torque limiter can be combined with KTR couplings and customised drive components.

The RUFLEX® with BoWex® has good displacement, thanks to its double cardanic design and provides low-cost torque limitation for shaft-to-shaft connections.

KTR-SI with ROTEX®

The KTR-SI with ROTEX® is an overload system, which can be used in combination with the torsionally flexible ROTEX® coupling. It offers overload protection up to 8,200 Nm. State-ofthe-art simulation and calculation programs are used for the precise design of the torque limiters.

This overload system is maintenance-free, capable of displacement and available with a range of elastomer hardnesses. The torque can be adjusted when assembled.

KTR-SI with ROTEX®

KTR-SI FRE

The KTR-SI FRE is an idle-rotation overload system with a high level of repeat accuracy. In the event of overloading, the idle rotation elements uncouple the driving and driven side, reliably protecting against damage. Once the overload has been eliminated, the idle rotating elements are manually re-engaged so that the drive is released again.

Properties:

  • Idle-rotation overload system (load-separating) 
  • Good repeating accuracy
  • Flange design for the attachment of pulleys or chains wheels
  • Can be combined with ROTEX®, GEARex® or RADEX®-N
  • The intelligent further development of the shear bolt coupling and hydraulic overload system
  • Setting range up to 60,000 Nm (higher torques on request)

KTR-SI FRE flange type

The KTR-SI FRE flange type is an idle-rotation overload system with a high level of repeat accuracy. In the event of overloading, the idle rotation elements uncouple the driving and driven side, reliably protecting against damage. The KTR-SI FRE flange type is suitable for the attachment of pulleys and chain wheels and can be combined with ROTEX®, GEARex® or RADEX®-N.

SYNTEX

SYNTEX® are positive-locking, backlash-free overload systems. They can be used for torques up to 525 Nm. The SYNTEX® is a punched disk spring, which acts as the component transmitting the torque. These couplings are characterised by their short response times and high repeat precision.

SYNTEX Standard

SYNTEX® Standard overload systems operate with positive locking, are backlash-free and torsionally stiff. It can be used for torques up to 525 Nm. The SYNTEX® Standard has a punched disk spring, which acts as the component transmitting the torque. The drive is switched off by a limit switch or sensor.

The flange version of this overload system can be used at up to 400 Nm. They can be supplied as synchronous and ratchet designs.

SYNTEX®-NC with ROTEX® GS shaft coupling

SYNTEX-NC

SYNTEX®-NC is a backlash-free overload clutch, which is characterised by its low weight and mass moment of inertia. The compact SYNTEX®-NC has a large bore diameter and an easy-to-assemble clamping ring design.

This overload clutch is based on a ball-latching principle, which permits high repeating accuracy and short reaction times over the entire service life of the coupling. These coupling are primarily used in state-of-the-art machine tools, control and positioning technology, packaging machinery and special-purpose machinery.

SYNTEX-NC

SYNTEX®-NC is a backlash-free overload clutch, which is characterised by its low weight and mass moment of inertia. It is compact and has a large bore diameter and an easy-to-assemble clamping ring design. The SYNTEX®-NC can be used for overload systems up to 265 Nm and has a low mass inertia. It is available with a ratchet and synchronous design.

KTR-SI Compact FT with ROTEX GS

The KTR-SI Compact with ROTEX® GS is an overload system combined with the vibrationdamped ROTEX® GS. It is a backlash-free and frictionally-locking shaft-hub connection guaranteeing overload protection of up to 3,100 Nm. The KTR-SI Compact is also available with the torsionally stiff RADEX®-N or RADEX®-NC. The NC with TOOLFLEX® features a frictional-locking clamping hub or taper hub.

KTR-SI Compact flange type

The KTR-SI Compact flange type is a torsionally stiff overload system up to 740 Nm. Thanks to its decreasing disk spring, this overload clutch is characterised by its low residual moments and high re-engagement accuracy.

It can also be combined with the backlash-free ROTEX® GS. The KTR-SI Compact flange type is axial plug-in and available in a ratchet and also synchronous design. It can optionally be supplied with a friction-locking shaft-hub connection or with a feather key connection.
