Bevel gears

The axes of bevel gears are not parallel but rather intersect each other. Generally the angle is 90°. The basic shape is a truncated cone, the circumferential surface of which is toothed.

The apexes of bevel gears paired with each other taper towards each other. The teeth taper towards the apex of the cone and are curved on what are known as hypoid gears.
