Roller chains are categorised by DIN standards depending on their design. This standardisation guarantees that the respective design and construction also correspond to their purpose of use.
DIN 8188 governs the american design of roller chains. There are additional sub-divisions within this standard according to simple, double and triple roller chains. The DIN numbers are also used to catalog the dimensions of bolt and roller diameter, link plate height or weight. The admission of ISO 606 into the regulatory body replaces DIN standard 8188 and introduces an international standard.
